A studio,
not a sideline

309 Films LLC is an independent film studio based in Occoquan, Virginia. It produces its own content, documentaries first, and invests in other filmmakers as executive producer.

The studio's first release, Smile for the Dead, directed by Hamilton Ward and produced by founder Charlie Puritano, won 42 festival awards and now airs on PBS. The current slate continues in the same register: folklore, faith, and the stories communities tell about themselves.

309 Films is an independent division of Puritano Media Group, Inc., which has produced video and interactive eLearning in the Washington, DC area since 1996. The studio draws on that production bench, and answers to its own slate.

Festival programmers, distributors, and filmmakers with projects that fit the slate are welcome to write.
